A unique collection programme: The AAP Foundation

The AAP Foundation is a European crisis centre for exotic animals such as monkeys, raccoons, skunks, squirrels and parrots. These animals are discovered during smuggling transports or are rejected by private individuals, the circus, laboratory animal centers or dubious animal parks. Most animals, arriving at the AAP Foundation, are mentally and/or physically ill. Physical ailments can often be cured very well with the proper medical treatment. For every animal at the AAP Foundation, there is sufficient time and piece and quiet to recover mentally as well. Animals living in groups learn to associate again with animals of their own sort in the crisis centre. All animals are also trained again to adapt as much as possible to their natural way of life. If the animals are healthy again, the Foundation will search for a proper place for them in a well-established zoo or reserve. There they can build up a new life in a more natural environment.

The AAP Foundation is not receiving structural government subsidy and is therefore totally dependent on the support of individual persons and companies!

To support the AAP Foundation financially, Van Klaveren ccc has set up a special action. In 2000, the AAP Collection Centre was founded, where individuals and companies can deliver their empty toner- and inkjet cartridges. For every cartridge that can be recycled, the AAP Foundation will receive a compensation of Van Klaveren ccc.
